Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund Sends 60 Disadvantaged At Risk Long Island Children to Upstate New York Summer Sleep-Away Camp
Camp Herrlich is one of this year’s camp recipients of grants from the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund. Family Service League, who received the grants from Camp Herrlich to provide for their at-risk children, is a grass roots social service agency that provides support and security to our Long Island neighbors who need it most. These children are among the most underserved at-risk families in the community where family incomes are at the federal poverty level.
WHEN: Sunday July 18th, 2021 WHERE: Long Island Expressway Exit 49 Park and Ride Time: 12 noon
Today is an important and proud day for our team at the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, as we take a moment to congratulate Gov. Hochul on her new role leading the state of New York. Gov. Hochul has been a constant voice of support and action with focus on legislation to further gun safety in an effort to keep the youth of our country safe. She is a spectacular person and we are thankful for her continued support.
'Within days of Scott’s killing, his mother, Linda, had reached a conclusion. She would refuse to spend the rest of her life irreversibly shaken with sorrow and bitterness. Instead, she would endeavor to honor her son by fostering a thing dear to him: helping underprivileged children to have the same experience he had as a child.'
'Walking through Camp Hi-Rock, greeting happy campers, Linda (Scott's Mom) said she knows where her son is.... “He’s here.”'

Beigel and all proceeds from this event are donated to the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund and used to send disadvantaged at-risk children, touched by gun violence to summer sleep away camp.
